As Hollywood works to incorporate more women in front of and behind the camera, Netflix has launched the category "Because She Watched" with UN Women. Because She Watched, launched ahead of International Women's Day, features content created by and for women and is curated by entertainment powerhouses.
The collection consists of movies and TV shows that inspired women in entertainment around the world, including Sophia Loren, Janet Mock, Salma Hayek, Yalitza Aparicio, Millie Bobby Brown, Mindy Kaling, Laurie Nunn, Lana Condor, Petra Costa, and Ava DuVernay. The collection, which includes content that Netflix says "started important, often hard, conversations that have helped to challenge the way we see the world" will be available to stream all year on Netflix.
